I obtained my Law Degree at Liverpool University and then went on to study for my Solicitors Final examination at the College of Law Chester
Soon after being admitted as a solicitor I joined Urquhart Knight and Broughton, a pioneering niche family law firms in 1986, in 1993, by which time I had become a partner, the firm merged with Morecroft Dawson and Garnett to become Morecroft Urquhart. During those first 6 years I had developed a specialism in family law with particular interests in children and Adoption law. Indeed I was one of the last people to be accepted onto the Law Society Children Panel before the implementation of the Children Act!
I have continued to practice in Family Law, specialising in children law including complex cases between parents and cases involving social services. In addition to Children Panel Membership I am a Resolution Accredited specialist in children and Adoption Law.
I am also trained and practice as a family mediator, with accreditation to conduct Legally aided mediation.
Away from the office, I train and show dogs, will try anything ‘crafty’, buy shoes and eat chocolate.
