Eleanor Cockrell

We are here to deliver clarity, confidence, and justice where it’s needed most.

I qualified as a solicitor in 2008 having completed my training at Morecrofts. I became a Partner of the firm in 2024 and I am based in the city centre office. I have been an accredited member of the Law Society’s Children Law Panel since 2016.

I specialise in children act disputes, working on both public and private law proceedings and representing parents, extended family members (including prospective special guardians) and children. I advise clients in relation to disputes as to where children should live and what time they should be spending with other family members and how that time can be managed safely. This would include advising clients whose family has become involved with social services due to child protection concerns and also after a final care order has been made to consider whether the plan remains the best one.

As part of that, I enjoy helping clients to access support to bring about changes so that they can overcome challenges to their parenting, and challenging the local authority at times when they are failing to take those changes into account. I have recently been appointed as a co-opted governor at a Wirral primary school. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym whilst trying to develop an enthusiasm for running outdoors.  I also enjoy reading as a way of winding down.

Reported cases I have been involved in :

C (A Child: Interim Separation) [2020] EWCA Civ 257
