On 6 May 2022, our client was involved in a serious road traffic accident when another driver pulled out from a side road into her path, causing her vehicle to leave the road and collide with a hedge. She sustained significant injuries, including a fracture to her neck (C2), leg injuries and broken teeth.

She spent more than two weeks in hospital, followed by a further 16 weeks recovering at home while wearing a neck brace. The accident had a major impact on her daily life, causing considerable pain, distress and disruption during her recovery.

Initially, she instructed another firm, believing they were acting for her insurer. However, she became unhappy with the service she received, feeling that communication was poor and that she was not fully supported or listened to during an already challenging time.

She chose to transfer her claim to Morecrofts, valuing the reassurance of working with a trusted local firm where she could meet her solicitor face to face. From the outset, we prioritised clear communication, personal service and a full understanding of the impact the accident had on her life.

Once the claim was presented, liability was admitted within just two days. The insurer made an initial offer of £15,000, which we did not feel reflected the seriousness of her injuries. Following careful negotiation and the support of expert medical evidence, the insurer’s offers steadily increased.

The claim ultimately settled for £37,500 – more than double the original offer – ensuring our client received compensation that properly recognised the severity of her injuries and the lasting effects of the accident.
