Jeremy Kyle my hero.

By Darren White

It is not very often we see those words, however I was recently pleased to see that the Jeremy Kyle show has dealt with the subject of male domestic abuse.

In a recent show, a male victim of domestic abuse talked very frankly about the abuse that he had suffered at the hands of his partner.  He described an incident when his partner locked him in a flat and on trying to escape by jumping from the balcony, he had injured his arm.

At this point the audience started laughing.  Jeremy talked sternly to the audience reminding them that if the victim had been a woman the audience would have been disgusted.

It is a perception that needs to change.  Domestic Abuse of any kind to any person is not acceptable.  Victims can often feel trapped, isolated and scarred.

It is important to know that help is out there.  Not just from support services but from thelaw whether this be the police or the family courts.
